Let's Get Colorful!!!

This past weekend I participated in a color run!!! If you don't know what that is, it is a 5K that is not timed and there are people who throw different colored corn starch on you throughout the course. At the end there is a big party with more color! They countdown and everyone throws color in the air at the same time. It is a fun experience so if you get the opportunity to participate in one, go for it! I was on a team with my coworkers. We were the Runaway Eagles. It was a very fun morning!!!

Runaway Eagles

I was afraid it would be hard to wash out, but surprisingly it came right off. I relaxed the rest of the day and jazzed up my balcony. Hopefully, I will have lots of pretty flowers growing soon. Fingers crossed!

The 10k!

This past weekend, my friend and former roommate from college, Amber, came into town for a race. She has really gotten into running and I am still trying to run, ha! So, with some hesitation, I registered to do the 10k too. I knew there was no way I could run the entire course. I would mostly be walking with a little jogging mixed in. I was nervous that I would be the only one out there doing that. But, I wasn't! There were all types of people out there---young and old, short and tall, expert runners and novice runners. Some were strictly walking. The course went through a fun, vibrant neighborhood where many people were gathered in front of their houses cheering us on. How awesome is that?! About halfway through, my foot was extremely sore, but I kept pushing myself. My goal was to finish. And finish I did!!! My time was 1:36:21. Certainly not fast, but for me it was good. It was a great feeling! Amber was waiting on me at the finish line. She finished about 30 minutes ahead of me. We felt so accomplished! After the race, we got lunch and then crashed for a couple of hours before going to a movie. It was a fun weekend, and I'm glad Amber had the idea to do this race!

Let's do this!

My First 5K!

This weekend, I went home to walk my very first 5K with my dad!!! It was so much fun! The race was at my home church and the money raised is for missions. I was able to see and visit with several people I haven't seen in a long time. The race was in a nearby neighborhood and it was very hilly! Some of those hills were steep! And let me just say, I was scared that we would be the last ones to cross the finish line. Simply because my dad's back has been out for a couple of weeks and he has been in and out of the hospital for the past few months. And, when we walk together around the neighborhood at home, he doesn't walk very fast. Well, all those preconceived notions of my dad walking slow and barely making it were WRONG!!! I think his competitive side came out. He used to run marathons all the time. So, he knew what to expect. He was in the zone. He got ahead of me several times and had to motion me forward, ha! We stuck it out and finished strong! We crossed the finish line at 51:21 and he grabbed my hand and held it up. We got some refreshments and visited with everyone. I won a door prize! AND......I came in 3rd place in my age group and my dad came in 1st place in his age group! It was a very enjoyable day! I'm glad my dad asked me to walk this race with him. :)

Ready to get our walk on!
